Using Request Indy
If you’ve ever noticed a pothole that keeps getting worse, a streetlight that’s been out for weeks, or illegal dumping that no one seems to address—Indianapolis actually has a straightforward way to report it. It’s called RequestIndy, and once you use it a couple times, it becomes second nature.
RequestIndy connects you directly to the Mayor’s Action Center. Instead of guessing who to call, your request gets routed to the right department—DPW, Animal Care, Code Enforcement, and more.
It’s not just about reporting problems—it creates a trackable record, which means issues are less likely to fall through the cracks.
How to Submit a Request

You can use RequestIndy on your phone or desktop—whatever’s easiest in the moment.
Choose the issue type

Drop a location pin
The more precise you are, the faster it gets handled. If you’re on-site, just use your current location.
Add details + a photo
A clear photo and a short, specific description (“large pothole in right lane heading north, ~2 ft wide”) helps them see what you’re seeing.
Submit and track
You’ll get a confirmation number and can check the status later.
And if something doesn’t get addressed? Submit it again. The system responds to volume and clarity. Most people assume city issues just linger—but Indianapolis has built a system that does respond when people use it. If you see something off, take 60 seconds and report it. Over time, those small actions are what actually keep neighborhoods clean, safe, and functioning.
